I have been hosting cacao ceremonies in Amsterdam since 2021, first at The Breathing Space and now mostly at my practice in the centre of Amsterdam. They are small gatherings, usually between eight and sixteen people, built around a cup of ceremonial cacao and live sound.

What happens

We start by arriving: tea, a short round of names, and a few words about why cacao. Then I prepare and serve the cacao. We drink it slowly with an intention in mind. After that I play for about an hour: crystal and Himalayan bowls, drum, voice, sometimes a guest with cello or guitar. We close with a sharing circle for those who want to speak.

When

Most ceremonies fall on a full or new moon, or on the equinoxes and solstices. Some editions add a microdose of psilocybin truffles or a flower ritual. The upcoming dates are listed below and on the events page.

Good to know

Ceremonial cacao is pure cacao paste, not hot chocolate. It contains theobromine and a little caffeine. If you take antidepressants, are pregnant, or have a heart condition, tell me when you book and I will serve you a smaller cup. Eat lightly beforehand and bring a cushion if you like to sit low.
